Question

are atoms heavier than air?

Open in App
Solution

Air is basically a mixture consisting of different gases like nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide etc, along with water vapours. These gases are themselves composed of molecules, which in turn are made up of atoms. Certain gases like Helium, argon etc consist of atoms and not molecules. Thus, air itself is made up of atoms. Hence, we can say that atoms are not heavier than air. The mass of an atom is negligible when compared with the mass of air.
