Question

Are meristematic tissues present in the mushroom and sea plants?

Open in App
Solution

  • Meristematic Tissue is the plant tissue found only in the tips of shoots and roots that is responsible for plant growth. It is not present in Mushroom and sea plants.

  • Mushroom does not have meristematic tissue. Because, mushrooms are unique. They are neither an animal nor a plant. They differ from plants and lack the green chlorophyll that plants use to manufacture their own food and energy. For this reason they are placed in a Kingdom of their own," The Kingdom of Fungi".

  • Terrestrial plants only have meristematic tissue. This trait has been evolved as derived trait of land plants.
