Question

As non -polar molecular solids are liquid or gaseous in nature then why it is called molecular solids??

Open in App
Solution

As we know there are weak intermolecular forces between non polar molecules i.e London dispersion forces generally. These forces are sufficient to allow them to condense into liquid state and also they can freeze into solid state.
Therefore at room temperature they may not be solid but they can freeze to form molecular solids at lower temperature.
