The tertiary sector of the country contributes the most to the GDP (as per 2010-2011 data) followed by the secondary sector. Compared to this, the tertiary sector was the second highest and the secondary sector the least contributor to the GDP in 1970-71. This growth in the contribution of the tertiary sector can be attributed to several kinds of new services like telecommunications, tourism and professional training that have sprung up in the recent past.
