At school we were taught that the tangent at any point on the magnetic field lines gives the directinon of the magnetic field at that point. What does this mean??
The tangent at any point on the magnetic field lines gives the precise path along which an isolated north pole of the magnet will tend to move at that very point if it is free to do so in a way if we aim to find out the direction of magnetic field at a particular point in the vicinity of a magnetic substance we always draw tangent to the magnetic lines of forces at that point.
