BF3 does not hydrolyse. Why?

Open in App
Solution

BF3 is itself an electron deficient compound but due to the strong electronegativity fluorine and smaller size of boron atom the B-F bonds become much stronger so that it can not get hydrolyzed but it forms an adduct with water as[ BF3<-OH2]
