Briefly describe homothallism and heterothallism of fungi.

Homothallism means presence of male and female reproductive structures on the same thallus. The opposite sexual functions are performed by different cells of a single mycelium. Whereas heterothallism means two different individuals constitute the male and female reproductive structures and contribute nuclei to form zygote.
