By looking at which internal structure of a plant can we tell whether a plant is C3 or C4?

Solution

We can tell a plant is C3 and C4 by looking at the internal structure of its leaves. Leaves of C4 plants have large bundle sheath cells around their vascular bundles which are followed by mesophyll cells. Both the bundle sheath and mesophyll cells contain chloroplast .This type of anatomy is called as Kranz-type.

Whereas in leaves of C4 plants there are no chloroplast present in their bundle sheath cells and these cells are also smaller in size.
