Question

Calculate initial velocity of a train which is stopped in 50 seconds by applying brakes. The retardation due to brakes is 0.5m/s square?

Open in App
Solution

Retardation, a = - 0.5 m/s2
Time, t = 50 s
Final velocity, v = 0
By using equation of motion:
v = u + at
⇒0 = u +(-0.5)×50
⇒u = 25 m/s
