Question

Calculate the mass of nitrogen which contains same number of molecules as are present in 4.4g of CO2.

Open in App
Solution

The molecular mass of carbon dioxide = 44 g

In 44g, number of molecules of carbon dioxide= 6.023 * 1023

In 4.4g, number of molecules of carbon dioxide= 6.023 * 1022

Molecular mass of nitrogen molecule= 28.

So, 6.023 * 1023 molecules of nitrogen present in 28 g

Thus, 6.023 * 1022 molecules of nitrogen are present in (28/ 6.023 * 1023 ) * 6.023 * 1022 = 2.8g
