One of the parent with blood group A may have I^AI^A or I^Ai allele combination and other with blood group B may have I^BI^B or I^Bi allele combination.

allele I^A and I^B are dominant whereas allele i is recessive, cross between I^Ai and I^Bi results in following four progenies:

1. First with I^AI^B allele combination means AB blood group.

2. Second with I^Ai allele combination means A blood group.

3. Third with I^Bi allele combination means B blood group.

4. Fourth with ii blood group means O blood group.

So, parents with A and B blood group can produce a child with O blood group.
