Question

Can a dopant of group 16 elements can be usd to make a p type semiconductor

Open in App
Solution

No, group 16 elements can not be used to make p- type semiconductors.
When an elemental semiconductor of group 4th such as Si or Ge is doped with a trivalent impurity (an element of group 3rd such as Indium, Boron or Gallium), we get P-type semiconductor.
