can the voltage drop across the inductor in a series of lcr circuit be greatar than the applied voltage?

Solution

The answer to this question should be NO reason being on passing current through the inductor the induced emf acts in the direction opposite to that of applied so it can only add a damping factor to the applied emf but can't increase it.
