No, we take anode made up of pure metals and cathode made up of impure metal during electrorefining. The purpose of electrolytic refining is lost. Instead of getting pure metal deposit we would get the thin layer of pure metal (from anode pure metal strip) deposited over the impure metal electrode (cathode).
