Question

carbon and oxygen combine in the ratio 3:8by mass to form co2.what mass of oxygen gas would required to react completely with 6 g of carbon

Open in App
Solution

As carbon and oxygen reacts in 3:8 by mass to form carbon dioxide, therefore 3g of carbon reacts with 8g of Oxygen.

Now 3g of carbon reacts with → 8g of oxygen

∴ 1g of carbon reacts with → 8/3 g of oxygen

∴ 6 g of carbon reacts with → 8×6/3 g of oxygen

Hence 6g of carbon reacts with 16g of oxygen.
