carbon is used for extracting zinc, iron from their oxides, hence carbon is more reactive than iron and zinc. but now the question is why carbon doesnot react with acids such as hcl, where hydrogen is less reactive than iron and zinc?

Carbon is not reactive enough to bond with chlorine and hence carbon does not react with hydrochloric acid.
