Question

Change in pressure is directly propotional to melting point of the substance. Then how does ice meltat lower temperature when pressure is increased duringregelation.

Solution

Both boiling and melting points are proportional to pressure. So, with increasing pressure both melting and boiling points will increase as molecules become more confined and more energy is required to free them and turn the change phase. This is why ice melts at a lower temperature if pressure is decreased.
