Question

Change of momentum is p1-p2.

So, what is rate of change of momentum? What is it's formula?

What effect will reduction of time to half have on rate of change of momentum?

Solution

The rate of change in momentum is the change in momentum per unit time.
If the change in momentum in time Δt is p1 - p2, then the rate of change of momentum is given as:
rate of change of momentum=pt=p1-p2t=m(v1-v2)t=mvt=ma=F
In this way rate of change in momentum is related to force.
From the formula if Δt is reduced to half then the rate of change of momentum becomes double.
