Question

charge on 1 gram of Al 3+ ions is ____. (e=electronic charge)

Open in App
Solution

The molar mass of Al is 27 g. The mass is almost same after the formation of ion.
27 g of Al3+ ion = 1 mol of Al3+ ion = 6.022 x 1023 ions of Al3+
1 g of Al3+ ion = 6.022 x 1023 / 27 atoms of Al3+
Charge on one atom Al3+ = 3e C
So charge on 1g ion of Al3+ ion would be = 3× 6.022 x 1023 ions of Al3+ /27 e C
= 1/9 × 6.022 x 1023 e coulomb
= 1/9 x NAe coulomb
