Classify the resources on the basis of origin,level of development and use , stock and distribution.

On the basis of origin:

Biotic resources : Those resources which have obtained from biosphere and have life. e.g. Flora and fauna
Abiotic resources:Those resources which are composed of non living things:e.g. Minerals and rocks

On the basis of status of development:
Potential resource:Which are found in an area but still are unexploited. e.g. Minerals resources are abundant in Himalayas but still unexplored.
Developed resources:Those resources which are survey and fully analysed and utilised.e.g. Coal and iron ore extracted from Chotanagpur plateau.
Stock:Resources which have potential but human beings don't have technical know how to extract them.e.g. Ocean water can be used for drinking purpose but we cannot use profitably because of lack of technology.
Reserve:These are the resources which can be used with existing technical know how but their use has not been started.e.g. water in dams are reserved which can be used in future.
