Question

cleistogamous flowers are said to be invariably autogamous. Why?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Cleistogamous flowers are those that do not open at all and only autogamy occurs. This is because there is possibility of cross pollination because these flowers do not open at all and pollen from other plants cannot land on the stigma of these flowers.

Hope this answers your question,

Cheers!!
