It is a chemical change as the compound formed by the reaction of hydrogen gas and nitrogen gas has different properties as that of the reactants, moreover the chemical composition of both reactant and the products is entirely different.
Following is the balanced equation for the reaction.
N2 + 3H2 ------> 2NH3
