Solution

A vegetarian follows a two step food chain, crop plant directly traps solar energy and prepare food like carbohydrates, which is one of the primary source of calories. The plants retain only 1% of the energy that they receive from sun for their food. So a vegetarian gets the rest of the energy upon consumption of plants.

In contrast a non-vegetarian who eats a meat will follow a three step food chain. At first plants followed by animals will consume energy, and then the remaining left over energy will be available for a non-vegetarian.

Thus we can say that vegetarian food habits give us more calories and is more advantageous as compared to non-vegetarian food.
