Open in App
Solution

Alveoli are the basic structural and functional unit of lungs while nephrons are the basic unit of kidneys.

Alveoli are air sacs where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged and transported. While nephron is a filtration unit which filters blood, works in reabsorption and maintains blood volume, blood pressure etc.

Alveoli are thin walled air sacs made up of a thin layer of squamous epithelium, while nephron is a unit consisting of Bowman's capsule, Loop of Henle, DCT, PCT.

Though alveoli acts as a filter for air while nephron is a filter for blood the two differ considerably in their structure and function.
