Question

Consider a uniform electric field E =3x103 i N/C. What is the flux of this field through a square of 10 cm on a side whose plane is parallel to YZ plane.What is the flux through the same square if the normal to its plane makes a 600 angle with the axis

Solution

Hello!

The Electric Flux through a surface is given as

Φ = EACosθ

here A = 10 X10 = 100 cm2 = 0.01 m2

and E = 3 X 103 N/C

(1) Here Φ = EA = 3 X 103 X 0.01

(2) Here Φ = EA = 3 X 103 X 0.01 X Cos60

Calculations can be performed accordingly to get the answers.
