(a) The system of 'Apartheid' divided the people and labelled them on the basis of their skin colour.

  • In India, division among people was on the basis of skin colour and the community they belonged to
  • The people were hence, known as blacks or Indians and whites or British
  • The British came to India as traders and slowly established their rule on Indians
  • Slowly they suppressed their rights, their economic condition and made them abide their Supreme power
  • All public utilities like trains, buses, hotels, schools, colleges, etc, were separate for Indians and they were not permitted to enter the region of British
  • Hence, to put an end to this segregation and free the Indians from bonded labour and slavery political leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji, Nehru etc, fought against this oppression against Indians
