Question

Define magnetic field in terms of force on a moving charge ? Define one tesla ?

Open in App
Solution

Magnetic field can simply be defined as the influence exerted by a magnetic material or moving charges comprising electric currents in a region around it , within which a magnetic force exists that can be experienced by other magnetic materials. Magnetic field can be thought of as forming imaginary closed loops around a magnet oriented from north pole to south pole.
Magnetic field induction at a point is said to be one Tesla if a charge of one coulomb while moving at right angle to magnetic field with a velocity of 1m/s experience a force of one newton at that point.
