Question

Define the following terms in a transistor amplifier

1.Input resistance

2.output resistance

3.current amplification factor

Open in App
Solution

Input Resistance : When we draw Input Characteristics of an amplifier(Common Emitter Configuration ) the ratio VBE / IB at constant VCE is the Input resistance. Its value is low as compared to Output resistance.
Output Resistance : The ratio VCE/IC at constant IB. Its value is high as compared to Input resistance.
Current Amplification Factor : It is the ratio of change in collector current to that of Base current. β = IC/IB at constant VCE.
Where
VCE= collector emitter voltage
VBE= base emitter voltage
IB= base current
IC= collector current
