· A massive landslide occurred in Pangi village near Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh in July 2013. This landslide damaged a 200-meter stretch of old Hindustan-Tibet road, National Highway number 22 and nearby villages.
· The probable reason for this landslide was powerful blasting at Pangi village that led to the collapse of the weak zone of slope.
· The effects of the landslide was so severe that the entire village of Pangi was evacuated.
· Later on, a decision was taken by the state government to widen the 120-km-long old Hindustan-Tibet road so that the supplies of essential commodities are not hindered at such times.
