Question

Define the unit of resistance

Open in App
Solution

(a) The resistance of a conductor is said to be 1 ohm when a current of 1 ampere flows through it when a potential difference of 1 volt is applied across the ends of the conductor.

(b). The resistance of a conductor increases as conductor become thinner since resistance is inversely proportional to an area of cross section of wire therefore when wire become thinner its radius decreases which result in a decrease in the area of the cross-section of wire and thus the resistance of wire increases
