define 'water equivalent of a calorimeter'?

Open in App
Solution

Hi,
The water equivalent of a substance is the amount of water needed to absorb the same amount of heat as that substance does for each degree of increase in temperature. Therefore, water equivalent of a body equals the product of its mass and its specific heat.

Water equivalent = mass x specific heat

Water equivalent = Heat capacity
