Question

DERIVE THE RELATION BETWEEN FORCE AND ACCELERATION. DEFINE ONE UNIT OF FORCE

Open in App
Solution

According to the Newton's first law of motion the force is directly related to the change in momentum of a body, so

F = dp/dt

now momentum is given a. p = mv

where m is the mass and v is the velocity

so,

F = d(mv)/dt = m(dv/dt)

or we get

F = ma

..

A force of 1 Newton (unit) is defined as the amount of force necessary to accelerate a mass of 1 kg by 1 ms-2. It is denoted by N.

1N = 1kg × 1 ms-2
