Solution

Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound.

Activity : To show Iron is more reactive than Copper or displacement reaction of iron with copper sulphate.

Procedure: Dissolve iron nail in copper sulphate solution.

Observation: The blue colour of copper sulphate solution fades away. Colour of solution changed to green and also there is deposition of copper on iron nail. Reaction occur as follows:

Fe(s) + CuSO4(aq) → FeSO4(aq) + Cu (s)

Conclusion: Iron is more reactive than copper since iron displaces copper from its salt solution.
