George offers to make tea while Harris and J. tow the boat. J. speaks of tow line. It always turns into a twisted heap of knots and one can't disentangle it again. J. has laid the tow-line folded. Harris lifts it scientifically and puts into George's hand. George begins to unravel it but soon it becomes a twisted heap again. Both George and Harris try to make the tow-line straight by finding its ends, but fail. The boat drifts off and makes straight for the weir.
