1.The northen plains are diveide into three parts:
(i) Indus plain (ii) Gaga plain (iii) Brahmputra plain
i.Indus plain- It is also called as Punjab plain.The large part of its plain lies in Pakisthan.It is formed by Indus and its tributaries.It is dominated by the doabs.
ii.Ganga Plain-It is extended between Ghaggar and Teesta rivers. It is spread over Haryana, Delhi, U.P., Bihar, partly Jharkhand and West Bengal states.
iii.Bhramputra Plain-It lies particularly in Assam.
2.It is formed of alluvial soil brought down by the Himalayan rivers.It is spread over an area of 7 lakh sq. km and it is about 2400 Km long and 240 to 320 Km broad.
3.It is a very fertile and agriculture productive land.
4.It is divided into four regions: bhabar, terai, bhangar and khadar
