Jowar, Bajra and Ragi are the important millets grown in India. The major geographical conditions required for them are as follows :

  • JOWAR
    • Rainfall - 30-100 cms.
    • Soil - Black and shallow black soil
    • Temperature - 25-30 degree Celsius

  • RAGI
    • Rainfall - 50-100 cms.
    • Soil - red, black, sandy and loamy soil
    • Temperature - 20-30 degree Celsius

  • BAJRA
    • Rainfall - 30-100 cms.
    • Soil - Sandy, Shallow black soil
    • Temperature- 25-30 degree Celsuius
