Insects can injure the growing crop by directly eating, burrowing the various plant parts. In another way the insects cause indirect damage by transmitting pathogens like bacteria, virus, fungi to the plants.

Insect infestation can be avoided by practicing techniques like crop rotation, mixed cropping, use of insecticides etc
