The Bryophytes have thallus-like plant body that is attached to substratum by unicellular or multicellular rhizoids. They lack true roots, stem and leaves; may possesses root-like, stem-like, and leaf-like structures. The vegetaive body of the bryophytes is either thallus or the leafy plant. The vegetative structures of bryophytes with thallus body ( like merchantia) include thallus, rhizoids and gemma cups and the vegetative structures of bryophytes with leafy body (like Mosses) include Leaves, main axis and rhizoids.
