Solution

Some power stations work by using coal or petroleum as fuel to produce steam by heating water. The steam is then used for rotating a turbine, which drives a generator. Electric energy thus generated is known as thermal power, and such power stations are known as thermal power plants .
There are many thermal power plants in India. Some of them are given below:
