Question

did you know that jupiter is a failed star and so are all the gas planets

Open in App
Solution

Well, not exactly. Jupiter's mass is just too small to be even considered a failed star. It is just a gas giant like the other outer planets.

In order for Jupiter to be a brown dwarf (failed star) it would have to be 13 times more massive and for it to be a real star it would have to around 80 times more massive.
