difference b/w cork cambium and vascular cambium.

Open in App
Solution

  • The vascular cambium formed by joining of fascicular and interfascicular cambium. The vascular cambium forms between the xylem and phloem in the vascular bundles and connects to form a continuous cylinder. It is composed of two types of cells – the fusiform initials and the ray initials. It always remains single layered. Its cells always remain in continuous state of division.
  • The cork cambium develops from permanent tissues in the region of epidermis, hypodermis and cortex or even in outer layers of phloem. It produces dead cells towards outer side and living cells of secondary cortex towards inner side. The cork cells are highly lignified and check the loss of water from the general surface of stem.
