difference between cuprous sulphide and cupric sulphide in name and why

Cuprous Sulphide and Cupric sulphide are two different compounds. Note down the formula of the compounds.
Cuprous sulphide : Cu₂S (here the oxidation number of copper is +1)
Cupric sulphide : CuS (here the oxidation number of Cu is +2)
When copper is in +1 state it is always cuprous and copper in +2 state is cupric.
