Solution

Ethanol is represented as C2H5OH, it is a general alcohol which is use for drinking purposes.

It is almost neutral in nature, it is a dehydrating agent also which try to absorb water, it is polar in nature and widely use as solvent for reaction purposes.

When it reacts with carboxylic acid it give ester which have fruity smell.

Where as Ethanoic acid (CH3COOH) is generally weak acid, its dilute solution in water is known as vinegar. Being an acid it reacts with base to form sodium salt. when it is treated with its own salt then it produces a buffer solution.

When it reacts with alcohol it produces esters.
