These representatives belong to various political parties and some may even contest as independents. The winners are elected to hold public offices and run the government of the country at various levels. Usually there are certain stipulated conditions for people to be eligible to vote in elections. Fulfillment of these conditions entitles a citizen to suffrage or the right to vote. Candidates are nominated by their parties to contest elections subject to fulfillment of certain criteria.
