Solution

Meiosis is a cell division that occur in animals, plants and fungi during the sexual reproduction and it reduces the chromosome number to half in gamete cells.

Meiosis I and meiosis II are two stages of this cell division
Meiosis I Meiosis II
It is a reduction division, also called heterotypic division It is homo typic division.
The most important event i.e. the number of chromosome reduced to half in this stage In this phase number of chromosome remains the same.
Crossing over takes place in this stage No crossing over, rather separation of different chromatids of a chromosome takes place
Interphase that occur prior to meiosis I has both growth phase and s phase Interphase has only growth phase and s phase is absent.
