Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Cilia and flagella are the hair-like outgrowths of the cell membrane, ciliala are numerous in number and either aid in the movement of either the cell or the surrounding media. Flagella are usually longer and less in number than the cilia. The flagella or prokaryotes is slightly different in its structure to that of eukaryotes. In prokaryotes, the flagella is single-stranded, 20nm in diameter and lacks differentiation of axoneme and sheath. The flagella in eukaryotes if present is 11 stranded (9+2), 200nm in diameter and shows differentiation of axoneme that is surrounded by a sheath.

Hope you find this answer useful,

Cheers!
