India is fortunate to have fairly rich mineral resources, The country is blessed with plenty of metallic and non-metallic mineral resources. However, they are unevenly distributed due to differences or variations in geological structures, processes and time involved in the formation of minerals. For instance,
i. In Peninsular plateau the reserves of coal, metallic minerals, mica and many other non-metallic minerals are found.
ii. In the sedimentary rocks of Gujarat and Assam most of the petroleum deposits are found.
iii. In Rajasthan reserves of many non-ferrous minerals are found.
iv. The country is also huge repository of fuel minerals like coal, petroleum, natural gas which are used for generating electricity.
