Lok Sabha Elections (General Election) Legislative Assembly Elections (State Election)
a. For Lok Sabha elections the entire country is divided into 543 constituencies. In case of State Legislative elections, it is the state which is divided into various constituencies.
b. For Lok Sabha elections, constituencies so divided are larger in size and covers various state assembly constituencies within it. For assembly elections, constituencies are relatively smaller in size as it is within a particular state.
c. Each constituency roughly covers equal population. Within a state as well the demarcation of constituencies is in proportion to population.
d. For Lok Sabha , election stake place in the entire country. Elections take place in a particular state.
e. National parties are the main contenders. National and regional parties are the main contenders.
