Red soil
  1. Red soil-Red soil is formed due to diffusion of iron in crystalline and metamorphic rocks which gives it a red colour.
  2. It is found in eastern and southern part of Deccan Plateau
  3. Crops grown in red soil are potatoes, pineapple and various grains like Maize and legumes etc.
Yellow soil
  1. Yellow soil –The parent material of yellow soil is clayey shale. Its Yellow colour is formed by the presence of ferric hydroxide. Plants grown in this type of soil are essential oil plants, tobacco
  2. It is found in parts of Orissa, Chhattisgarh and southern parts of middle Ganga plain and piedmont zone of Western Ghats
  3. Crops grown in yellow soil are citrus food, essential oil plants, tobacco and different vegetables etc.
