Differentiate between the Head of the State and Head of the Government. Name the two Houses of Indian Parliament

a. In a Parliamentary democracy, President is the head of the state who represents the country but does not rule the country.
The real powers are vested in the Prime Minister who is the head of the government.
b. Since the President is not directly elected by the people, he remains the nominal head. The Prime Minister is the leader of the majority party in the Lok Sabha which is directly elected by the people. That is why the Prime minister is the real executive head. The Prime Minister is the member of either house of the Parliament.

c.The head of the state is the highest formal functionary in the Parliamentary form of government. All appointments are made in his name. The Prime Minster as the head of the government aids and advise the head of the state in the exercise of his functions.

The two houses of the Indian Parliament are Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
